And we start with our top headlines at this hour

1.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in said on Monday

the government will focus all-out efforts on South Korea's economy achieving at least 4 percent growth in 2021.

Delivering a special address to mark his fourth year in office,

he also declared a push to create herd immunity here

against COVID-19 earlier than scheduled.

The president said more than 13 million people here would be given coronavirus vaccine shots in the first half of this year.

Preisdent Moon reaffirmed a commitment to close cooperation

with U.S. President Joe Biden.

He cited a plan for his first in-person summit talks with Biden to be held at the White House in late May.

South Korea on Monday began accepting COVID-19 vaccine reservations,...for the next group of senior citizens -- those between the ages of 65 and 69.

This is the second of the three-stage reservation program,...which covers people between 60 and 74,...who will be getting the AstraZeneca vaccine.

The first reservation round took place four days ago,... for the oldest group -- those between 70 and 74.

After this second round,... the final group,... those between 60 and 64,...can book their shots from Thursday.

South Korea reported 463 more cases of Covid-19,

bringing the nation's total infections

to 127-thousand 772.

It also reported 1 additional virus death,

now standing at 1,875.

In total, 117,844 people in South Korea have recovered from the virus, rising 421 from a day earlier.

2. Meanwhile,

In Israel on Sunday,...

the number of people

with COVID-19 dipped to 985,... the lowest figure in 14 months.

The last time active COVID-19 cases dropped under one thousand was on March 21, 2020,...

when it was 980 during the first wave of the pandemic.

Active cases continued to soar,... peaking about three months ago,... when more than 74-thousand active cases were reported,...

and the daily number of newly confirmed cases neared 9-thousand.

This comes as the country has been aggressively vaccinating its citizens.

Another 830-thousand have recovered,... and only 17 new cases were reported on Saturday.

In Russia,... the country's health minister said

Russia will be able to reach herd immunity

by September.

Russia has so far administered more than 21-million doses,...

 or 7-point-5 percent of the country's population.

3.

The so-called 'vaccine deserts',...

countries where no COVID-19 vaccines are available at all,...

are still being reported around the world.

According to the WHO,...

nearly a dozen countries have no vaccines,... many of them in Africa.

The WHO said last week

that delays and a shortage of supplies

are seeing African countries fall behind the rest of the world.

The continent accounts for just one percent of vaccines

administered worldwide.

In Haiti,...

not a single dose has been administered to anyone.

Government officials cite the lack of infrastructure,...

and concerns over side effects.

Moving to weather forecast,

The rain that started in the central regions

will spread to the southern provinces.

On and off rain will fall all day in northern and central regions,

while the south will receive showers through tomorrow morning.

But dry weather alerts remain in place for the east of the country including Daegu and Busan, while air quality will be good.

Top readings will be 4 to 5 degrees lower than yesterday

for many places.

Jejudo Island will receive rainfall tomorrow

but the island will be mostly sunny today, reaching 25 degrees.

Bright skies return to the capital tomorrow with a big rise in afternoon temperatures,

but southern regions will be wet and chilly through the first half of the week with readings to remain way below the seasonal norms.

Highs will range between 14 and 22 degrees Celsius.

As for the highs, Seoul will be 16 degrees,

while Busan and Jejudo Island will be 20 and 22 degrees in the afternoon.

The current temperatures are:
